Think Energy Efficient, Think Green, Think Environmentally Friendly, Think Energy Star Certified
Welcome to High Country Timberframe High Performance Homebuilding. We are a fully insured, licensed general contractor serving the North Carolina High Country and surrounding counties including Northeast, TN. We are licensed in NC, SC, and VA and will consider projects in other areas.
Established in 1997, our company is small enough to offer personal construction service of the highest quality for your home. Yet, we are a highly specialized company large enough to design and build the most complex of homes. We are a true turnkey builder that handles every detail of your home starting with consultation, building site selection, floor planning, plans and specs, to grading to final interior details.
Our clients demand more and understand that a structure meant to house people is a holistic system. There are multiple systems within the structure that have to work together in the most efficient, complimentary way possible.
Of course aesthics, structural integrity and longevity are of utmost importance. However, intangibles such as energy efficiency, indoor air quality, heating & cooling and environmental impact are also given priority consideration.
We specialize in turnkey construction of custom, energy efficient, high performance homes and timber frame homes.
We encourage you to browse our site and explore all the various aspects of our business and the types of services we can provide for you, with reasons why you should consider us for your building needs.
Take time to review information under our Resources tab for helpful information on topics such as heating & cooling, choosing a general contractor and more.
NC Energy Star 3 &
Home First In Region To Receive Both Awards
How Did We Receive Both Energy Star Certifications?
"VandeMusser Design, PLLC has tested well over a thousand green homes for various certifications over the years and the home we just tested for High Country Timberframe falls into the upper echelon of high-performance houses. With a HERS index of 52 (48% better than code), the house they built for the Greene family in Boone, NC is projected to use approximately 50% of the energy of an equivalent code-built house.
"This was done through thorough air-sealing by the builder during construction, the use of cutting-edge materials such as structural insulated panels (SIP's) and insulated concrete forms (ICF's), and the use of ultra high-efficiency HVAC and water heating equipment. What resulted was a beautiful, high-performance house that tested better than 95% of the green houses we normally certify.
The builder was an active participant in the green certification process, asked good questions, and most importantly, listened to the advice we offered to make the house as efficient as possible within the constraints of the construction budget.
I would not hesitate to recommend High Country Timberframe to anyone looking for an extremely high quality builder to build an energy efficient house for them. I look forward to inspecting and certifying many more projects from them!"
